Posted by ljoh3106 on November 20, 2006

God has again used Darrell to rally the soldiers of His army in the Phoenix area for prayer. Answer the call to take one Saturday morning a month and go up on a high place to pray. Take a group with you when you go. See http://xsorbit32.com/users5/prayercampaign/index.php for more information. Be sure to let everyone know if you plan to be part of this campaign.

Vernie Abbitt

Posted by ljoh3106 on November 19, 2006

To bring this up to date, Vernie had his surgery and is recovering.  He has been at the extended care facility at Banner Thunderbird Hospital for about a week and they are going to send him home on Tuesday.  Having casts on both feet and his right wrist, he is pretty immobile.  It is difficult for him to transition from bed to wheelchair but he is managing that with a little help from Amy.

Continue to pray for his recovery and that no complications arise from the intense rebuilding done to the bones in his feet.  His left foot has to be completely off the floor for 3 months.

Thanks for the prayers for a real servant of the Lord.

Vernie Abbitt’s status

Posted by ljoh3106 on November 6, 2006

On October 28, a prayer request newsletter was sent out.  One of the requests was for Vernie Abbitt.  He just arrived back in Phoenix last night around 9PM.  He had been flown from Chad to Frankfurt, Germany a few days earlier and then from Germany to Dallas.  Then from Dallas to Phoenix.  He was then taken to Phoenix Baptist Hospital.  17 hours in transit.

Vernie’s injuries were more severe than first reported.  Both heels are broken and his right wrist is broken.  There will be surgeries required, possibly for all three injuries.  His recovery is likely to take months.  For those who know him, you know Vernie has always been so active, so this will be very hard on him.   Keep him in your prayers.
