Do you ever struggle with patience?  Wanting to see God move immediately in the hearts of unbelievers or new Christians that you know?  We all struggle with that, especially those of us with family members who are not Christians.  We also struggle with those that call themselves Christians who reject God’s Word.

With this new year, commit to draw closer to God, to return to holiness, to depend on God for your blessings.  Read AW Tozer’s “The Pursuit of God”.  Although this book was written many years ago, he describes the condition of the Christian community just like today.  As Barna said, we in the house church movement are the true revolutionaries for Christ.  But God can and will move on hearts if we, as His church on this earth, follow Christ and reflect His Glory to our neighbors, friends, family members, and coworkers.

  1. “But God can and will move on hearts if we, as His church on this earth, follow Christ and reflect His Glory to our neighbors, friends, family members, and coworkers.”

Larry you are a very contengent and works based man, you seem to think that God acts when we act, that somehow God is limited to what he can do by what we do.

“God can and will move on hearts if we…”

Isaiah 46: 10 I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done saying: My plan WILL take place, and I WILL do all My will. (A) 11 I call a bird of prey [a] from the east, (B) a man for My purpose from a far country. Yes, I have spoken; so I will also bring it about. (C) I have planned it; I WILL also do it

What does God say “My plan WILL take place, and I WILL do all My will.” and “I have planned it; I WILL also do it” God doing his will in the earth, not reacting to our meger attempts at serving him in our tiny ways.

Acts 9:3 As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” 5 “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! 6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Pual was on his way to KILL Christians and Jesus stopped him and what happens? Paul at the WILL of the Lord becomes a Christian too. Not at paul’s will, but at his will becuase he is GOD and GODS WILL WILL BE DONE !

3 “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers[c] in Jerusalem! 14 And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.” 15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. 16 And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

Jesus said “for Saul is my chosen instrument”. Rember Jesus told this to his followers, that they did not choose him but that he choice them. And in another place, that “we love him, for he first loved us”

Larry you got it backward, God does not react to us…we react to him. Gods hands are not tied by what we do or do not do, not at all.

Oh and for many teaching we are all damned to hell, is not reflecting Gods glory at all.

  2. Larry said

Well, I had no idea someone would come along and disect my every word looking for a way to be critical. But I guess I should expect it.

I agree that God’s hands are not tied by what we do or not do. God certainly has a plan. But scripture also says in James 2:14; “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but does not have works? Can his faith save him?”

My intent was and is to encourage others to “follow Christ and reflect His Glory to our neighbors, friends, family members, and coworkers.” I am not talking about trying to get God to react to us but rather making ourselves available to be part of His plan.
