East Valley Prayer

For some time now, some men from the east valley house churches have gathered every other week to pray for the needs in each house church.  But the time has also been a time of encouragement and edification for those involved.  But we always met at a home where it was safe; in our comfort zone.

We recently changed all that by moving to every other Wednesday night and meeting at a coffee house in an effort to follow what we learned from the Evangelism in Depth seminar taught by Ed Waken last month.  Now we are definitely out of our comfort zone and actively looking for opportunities to open conversations as the Holy Spirit leads.

This week we will meet Wednesday night at 7PM at the Coffee Rush, Gilbert and Baseline.  If you feel led to get out of your comfort zone, we would love for you to join us this week.  If you can’t join us, please pray for us.

Phoenix Prayer – Cousins

Pray for Muslims in Phoenix from Nov 10 – Dec 2^nd.  I invite any who are willing to fast, as God leads you, for Muslims of Phoenix during this time. Many of us have been fasting much of Ramadan and God is generously expanding contacts among Muslims of this valley.    

 

We are asking God for several new Muslim background Jesus communities that will spring from the visit of a Bangladeshi brother, Samir, gifted by God in leading Muslims to faith in Jesus.   We will have the joy of discipling these new groups into becoming  reproductive Jesus communities.  

 

Imagine the day when two bearded men with caps, dressed in long shirts and loose slacks, or two women with head coverings approach you at Starbucks or  knock on your door to discuss with you how  Jesus is the fulfillment of everything they ever longed for in Islam and has filled their life with joy and purpose.   Jesus, I am ready for such a reality in Phoenix.   May it be yesterday, already happening.  Truely your return is imminent.  

 

Jesus – this is something on which I can not interact with you enough.   Call your church to interact with you in these things.   1/40 in this city have missed Jesus in Islam. That is 100,000 of my cousins who have been inoculated against your Son.    

 

Who will be among the first Muslim background fellowships? Jesus, reveal yourself out of your abundant good pleasure and generosity to these my friends.    I call to you on behalf of these related to my own my flesh and blood.  Bring an end to the hostility and misunderstanding.  It will not remain. Let reconciliation begin in the Valley of the Son.    Bring an end to the days when they do not share at your table.  Are not crumbs given to even dogs.  They are half brothers and for them Jesus joyfully submitted to the cross.   Change time such that today is their day   Release angels and do battle in the heavenlies against the powers that deceive and prevent sight of  the beautiful truths of Jesus who is Lord.   Let now be the time of earthquake and aftershocks within the Muslim community whereby the light of Jesus penetrates all seeking hearts.   

 

Prepare the  hearts of those with whom Samir will meet.   Lead him to those who are among those you’ve appointed.   Release workers from your Body to bring Good News to Muslims in Phoenis.  Bring some to faith before he comes such that he can assist in cementing new fellowships.   God, you yourself said that time is short and we must act while it is day .  May we see new fellowships from among our Muslim cousins springing from the visit of Samir. Teach us  to effectively communicate your truth using the bridges you’ve given for their understanding of Isa.    Establish these Jesus following communities and order their worlds such that it is only natural for them to continue meeting and growing.   Raise up others who can mentor these communities in your ways as they take on the responsibility you entrust to them of being Your Body in this world.   

TOAG-J: Training Ordinary Apprentices to Go – Jerusalem

I want to share with you an exciting opportunity with you.  Perhaps you or someone you know will be interested.

TOAG-J is a year long apprenticeship focused on planting reproductive Jesus communities in Maricopa County. TOAG-J will begin on Saturday Jan 12th (approx. in 3 months). It will then meet each Monday evening starting on Jan 14th. We are in the heavy recruitment phase, making others aware of the opportunity. If God would give us multiple groups, we would be grateful.

The apprenticeship is designed to equip those burdened with the surrounding lostness to keep developing their passion for Jesus, their passion for His kingdom, and to be effective in starting new reproducing Jesus communities. This will involve going into the darkness in his love and service, finding those who God is drawing to Him, having exploring conversations about God with existing social groups of the lost, walking with and discipling those groups to experience the truth, power, and healing of God, seeing God birth new life, teaching the processes: hearing God, remaining in His presence, obeying, and the life of the Jesus community, and then discipling them to go in like manner, passing on the responsibility to this new group for being Christ’s body to their world..

You know that this is process is not simple, not quick, and not without great cost and suffering. It is those who are willing to ask God for the impossible and who are willing to persevere in sacrificial service and prayer committed to seeing the Kingdom established in new places that we would love to mentor in these kingdom expansion activities and principles.

We believe that it will be realistic to have planted a new church (a.k.a. Jesus community) within the course of the apprenticeship and will do everything possible to support that outcome so that the intern experiences the amazing and generous movements of God.

Will you pray and reflect on your friends and relationships to see if you know of others that may be interested in TOAG-J. Are there those who whose hearts carry the burden of the lost and must respond now? These need to be workers, those willing to alter their life so as spend time with the lost, learning to disciple others and to train them to make reproductive disciples. It will be time intensive. The apprenticeship will train them in passion for Jesus, passion for His Kingdom, and to be effective among the lost. The communication needs to be happening now so that people can adequately order their lives to clear commitments for the internship.

Ukraine Outreach

Greetings again!

We are coming down to the wire for our outreach to the Ukraine and God is
putting it together. We fly out Nov. 2. We do have some financial needs,
however, so we could use your help…

We are planning to have a garage sale to raise funds Oct. 20th. Does
anyone have anything to donate? We have a truck so we can come and pick it
up. ALL treasures appreciated!

We are also doing a GoldCanyon Candle fundraiser. We know that this is
allot to ask but we could use your help. Would you consider putting out
the information at your weekly get-together? If every homechurch sold a
couple that would be great! We need about $2600.
